Pirates Make it 6-Ahoy Poole Castle Cover Pirates pulled three points clear at the top of the Sky Sports Elite league after completing a swift 'double' over Coventry. For the second time in 48 hours the Pirates comprehensively overcame a Bees side, this time showing no compassion for a side further depleted with injuries.
Starting with just three of their regular 7 starters the Bees' injury jinx struck again when Oliver Allen took an awkward heat 9 fall. The British world cup rider was forced to withdraw from the rest of the meeting nursing a left arm injury and the doctor was kept busy as guest Tai Woffinden was struggling with a shou injuty. He too was signed out of the meeting, by which time the Pirates had steadily constructed a six point lead, a strong enough foundation from which to register four maximum heat scores from the final five heats to finish off the Bees.
Magnus Zetterstrom (pictured, in photo coyrighted photo by Aaron Lupton) and Bjarne Pedersen were both in fine form, 'Zorro' only losing to fellow Swede and Coventry guest Freddie Lindgren whilst Pedersen dropped his only point to Coventry's other guest Piotr Swiderski. Dave Watt enjoyed a solid pay night with a paid 9 score to compensate for missing the practice session for his world championship qualifying meeting which is being held tomorrow in Sweden.
Fellow Australian Chris Holder and reserve Freddie Eriksson also enjoyed bumper pay nights whilst Adam Skornicki gave his usual solid performance. Poole's 19 point margin of victory would have been even greater had the luckless Daniel Davidsson not experienced a heat 2 engine failure whilst heading for a near certain second 5-1 of the night for the Pirates.
