Poole Castle Cover Pirates fast rising Australian racer, Chris 'Noddy' Holder held his nerve to win the third round of the 2008 Australian Solo Speedway Championship raced at the Borderline Speedway. Mount Gambier, South Australia on Saturday. Holder, who rode for the Isle of Wight side during 2007, completed his hat-trick of wins with a superb ride to win the A Final from England's Joe Screen, with Troy Batchelor (Australia) third and Freddie Lindgren (Sweden) fourth. This win sees Holder open up a ten point lead at the top of the series leader board from Batchelor, with three riders, Screen, Lindgren and Batchelor sharing third place a further three points back. With just two rounds of the championship series left to race, 20-year-old Holder would appear to be on the brink of winning his first major speedway championship, although he can ill afford to take his eye of the chasing pack. The fourth round takes place at the Newcastle Speedway, Newcastle, New South Wales on Wednesday 9 January, with the fifth and final round taking place at the Sydney Showground, Sydney, New South Wales on Friday 11 January. 1. Chris Holder AUS OVERALL PLACINGS AFTER TWO ROUNDS 1. Holder 60 points 2. Batchelor 50 3. Woodward 47 4. Lindgren 47 |
